I've been using Xbox Live Gold for about 2 months now and it's worth the money. It has nice features etc.

The problem is the LAG.

And it's not so much that I get lag, it's the fact that the match restarts because apparently one person has a crappy connection and it ruins it for the rest of us. This happened quite a few times on Call of Duty 4 today.

And it was in different matches too, not just one in particular. I noticed that in each case there was a player or two with a high ping which may have caused the lag or connection interruption.

Why don't they just kick out the player causing the connection problem and presume the match! Instead, they force you to restart the match and start from scratch again..

It gets a bit frustrating after it occurs more than once within a short period of time.

I noticed this a lot today though, as previously it only happened like 1 or 2 times so maybe it was a XBL server issue but I doubt it..

Oh yeah, and one more thing: There should be an easier way to kick a player out of a match. There was this one guy who was in our team that kept team killing and was being really annoying. It was not until almost everyone filed a complaint against him that he was kicked out. The only reason that worked was because prior to him joining our team he already had a high percentage as I guess he had pissed off players before.

I've really only played two games on Live(Guitar Hero 3 & Halo 3) and can safely say that lag for either game SUCKS!!! Halo 3 isn't as bad as for when you get it for GH, since in GH you actually miss notes which can mean a BIG difference in the scores. But it is still annoying with Halo, since you could be standing there bashing the one guy in the back for about 5 minutes, when in reality, he's gone to get a sword and hits you in the back(THIS HAS ACTUALLY HAPPENED TO ME!!!).

Lag isn't just a problem with Xbox Live, it's one of those things that effects every online game. It just happens, and when it does, it steals your balls.

Yeah but in most other games (well on the PC at least) it doesn't restart the match. While in this particular case, it did.

It's rather frustrating to restart the match because of the lag when there's only a few minutes left until the match ends.

But this doesn't always happen, and I haven't faced this problem recently either. It lagged a bit yesterday but after a few seconds it was back to normal..I think I was a couple of exp. points away from getting to the next level when I made this thread which was probably why I decided to rant about it :P

So yeah it's not that big of a deal as it doesn't occur on a daily basis.

I feel your pain man. The lag is getting worse with Brawl, 3 or 4 times during peak usage, during the fight it freezes and disconnects everyone. It has happened to me right before I was going to finish off an opponent.

One thing you don't get is that the lag isn't a problem with XBL at all. Nearly all games on XBL, with the exception of Frontlines: Fuel of War, are client-based. In other words, there is no server hosting the game, it's the player who's hosting it. So if that player has a shit connection, due to where they live, there IP, whatever, then everyone else will suffer accordingly.

It's just like joining someones personal game in CS:S, just because it lags, you can't blame Steam, they're just showing you where to find the game, not hosting it for you.
