Party Win a full version copy of World of Goo for FREE!
For those of you who have never heard of World of Goo, first of all let me start by saying that it's not like World of WarCraft! There's no aggro or any of that other crap, instead you get "goo" which of course pwns more.

Contest rules & regulations:

*To enter the contest you must have at least 25 non-spam posts, and have been a member of this forum for at least 3 days.
*Failing to adhere by the rules will result in your disqualification.
*Submissions made AFTER the deadline will not be accepted. The deadline is currently December 15, 2008 at 11:59 PM EST.

Ok enough of that jargon, now for how the contest will work!

I'm sure you've all seen those "motivator" images that say epic fail etc.

I thought it would be pretty cool to have a contest where you can submit your own motivator created using a self taken screenshot. By this I'm referring to a screenshot of a PC game YOU took, not someone else. If I find out that you used a screenshot that you didn't take I'll disqualify you, this is to keep it fair to those who actually took the time to create their own thing.

As for the "caption", it has to be either funny, interesting, or related to the forum. Inside jokes are welcomed. If you just take a random screenshot and the caption you add makes no sense whatsoever then you'll be disqualified as well. It doesn't have to be amazing, just something that makes sense even if it's corny.

You can take a screenshot of any PC game (freeware, commercial, or flash) as long as the screenshot does not reveal anything sexually explicit or something racist. The same goes with the caption text, it should not be X-rated or racist. As for profanity, you may use a maximum of one word of such language and it has to be mildly censored using *'s. Example: SH*T F**K etc.

Since we are giving away a full version copy of World of Goo for the PC (Windows, Linux, or Mac - it's the winner's choice) I thought I'd make it more interesting by increasing your chances of winning if you use a screenshot taken from this game in your motivator.

For those of you who aren't GFX wizards, you don't have to be to participate. A good website for easily creating motivators can be found HERE. Even if you don't play much PC games you could still enter using a game as simple as Minesweeper or even Solitaire if you manage to come up with a decent caption.

I used Minesweeper Vista in the following example:

As you can see it's not hilarious nor too witty, but it gets the job done. Something like that would be suffice. Using that website, just choose the upload to imageshack option and use the 1st hotlink code which works on this forum. Alternatively if you can create one yourself then just do so and upload it to any image hosts that works on this site, TinyPic.com is a good example.

How the winner will be chosen:
I originally thought about voting for a winner, however that's not too fail proof and might cause some unfair manipulation so therefore the winner will be chosen randomly. If you decide to use a World of Goo screenshot in your motivator you'll be assigned an extra ticket rather than just one. Every valid submission will be awarded a "ticket" this will be a random number that I'll generate, and then put into a randomizer that will randomly select a number from all the ones I've inputted.

However, as I stated before it is NOT necessary to use a World of Goo screenshot but it will give you an advantage in terms of increasing your chances of winning. Overall, this contest should be fun and rewarding. If you can't come up with something amazing it's OK, as long as I see some effort I'll accept it.

Ok I'll "shut up now" but before I do a big thanks to:

2D Boy for sponsoring this! If you don't win, you can buy the game off their website or off WiiWare if you have a Wii. You can also get the demo off their site if you haven't done so already. For those of you who are too lazy to find it, DOWNLOAD HERE.

Questions should be made in this thread as well as submissions.

World of Goo is what you win right? So if you take a screenshot from that game, that means there is a demo somewhere out for download right now?

I didn't know those things were called motivational posters, I thought those were memes. lol. epic fail.

I should have added the download link before, sorry.

I just finished adding it and I'll post it in this reply as well: http://worldofgoo.com/dl2.php?lk=demo

Currently there's only the Windows & Mac versions available, however if you'd like the Linux version you can still win that it's just that you'd have to wait for the developers to release it.

Also, thanks for your submission Side_Scroll'R. I see you used an emulator :P

RE: Win a full version copy of World of Goo for FREE!
I took a second look at the restrictions I put, and decided to make these changes.

Since I just said PC games, I was not too specific on what I was looking for. I've decided to allow submissions with both free and commercial games, but disallow emulated games (ROMs) as they are not native PC games. As for flash games, they are permitted as well.

*EDIT* I also toned down the requirements to make it easier for newer members to participate.
