Will Wright said Spore not only bring creativity to the masses but change the way that people look at games forever.
According to BBC article below over 2.6 million Spore creatures have been created so far. Quote:"Getting people to make content and having that content show up in the game is completely new for the industry, especially on this scale," said Spore producer Thomas Vu. Another interesting point brought up is how the character creation system has helped lowered costs as the users are the ones creating the creatures rather than developers. There's also plans for Spore becoming it's own platform if it sells well enough. Perhaps some sort of game creation engine based off it will be released? With that being said, I think Spore definitely has introduced something new to the market and can very well compete with existing MMORPGs. That character creature was the best I've seen so far, and keep in mind I only used the trial. The full thing must be amazing. As for the issue about whether it will change gaming forever, only time can answer that. Although it wouldn't surprise me if Blizzard was already working on something similar to be able to compete.. i dont know... its new and different and amazing, but i dont know if its going to change the industry... i mean the technology has been there for a loooong time. i think if anything the sims was what changed it, then spore just crept in lol. its going to be awesome dont get me wrong... i just dont think its going to be life changing.

RE: Will Spore change gaming?
Yeah the Sims introduced something innovative, and it's branched out into other games.
But I guess Spore could be considered it's predecessor. So it will continue the "expansion" where the Sims left off. Xbox Gamer Blog Read The Forum Rules Pwnem Veteran <- This explains what it is and how to become one. |

RE: Will Spore change gaming?
What would really make it a hit, is to create codes for your monsters and such you make, and be able to transfer them to your favorite game and use it as a playable character.

RE: Will Spore change gaming?
Heh, that's a bit unrealistic but it's still a good idea.
They do offer a character video/avatar export though which is nice. I tried both using the trial and was impressed. What they might offer eventually is perhaps some sort of program that converts your Spore creature into a 3D model that could be used in certain game creation engines.
