The Punisher (Frank Castle) is a fictional character that appears in the comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character first appears in The Amazing Spider-Man #129 (Feb. 1974), and was created by writer Gerry Conway and artists John Romita, Sr. and Ross Andru.

Darn, beat me to it... I was about to get all 'Comic book fan boy' up in this joint... but yeah, The Punisher is good old Frank West. Originally portrayed as a mercenary-for-hire trying to kill your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, and was then fleshed out into the mafia-killing vigilante.

I think he was also the first to get a 'MAX' series run of comics.

There was also a movie made some years back, it was quite good.

There's actually a new Punisher movie being released end of this year/start of next year, that is directly from the comics apparently.

Ooooh, I will buy that one. I love Punisher, nice and violent.

Well apparently people liked him that much from the Spiderman comics, that he got his own lot of comics, just a little differently based. And then he got his own movie, and now he's getting ANOTHER movie.

That's pretty accurate. Spider-man villain turned popular Anti-Hero. Popular enough to get his own movie, to boot.

Then again, Blade got three movies, but no one seems to remember he's a Marvel =P
