The 360, specifically because of XBOX Live. And I also live to play FPS/Shooter games.

My first console of this generation was the wii too. It looked really nice, and looked like it hat lots of potential, but now it's turned into a 5 year old money making maching. Every now and then they'll relase a good game, like a really good game. But 80% of games that nintendo releases for it are just cheap stuff that looks appealing for familes and arnt good quality for hardcore gamers.

I have now bought a 360, and are on it usually 6-8 hours a day when im not doing work. I hanvt actually touched my Wii in months. I think that the 360 is definately the best console for hardcore gamers, not only for the quality of games, but it has a great community coming along with it.

wow tbh i see that as a silly question, Wii to me is like a novelty console...just like the novelty games like eye toy nd the dance mats so XBOX ALL THE WAY even tho im not allowed one :( *plays sad violin music* i know...cry for me gamers

Yeah unfortunately with the current line up it is pretty much a novelty console although it is getting some good games soon. And despite all the crappy games it has, there are already a couple of decent titles. WiiWare is supposed to get some zombie shooter soon that looks real good, I'm looking forward to that.

But the 360 pwns it by far in terms of it's game library plus the online play on the Wii sucks, I prefer Xbox Live a lot more even though it's not free.

I was expecting more from the Wii, but I think they will end up doing much better when the HD Wii is released at some point. I will be looking forward to that. Sell my current one to a young kid or someone that can afford it.

it depends on how much fun an Xbox is offline. Live sounds great but I'm not paying a fee to play online. I think that's stupid beyond belief. I don't mind if you have to pay for extra features or what ever but all I want is to play online with people. That's not something I'd pay for. Xbox seems like fun but it also seems like most of the fun is to be had with live. Just like as cheap as the Arcade version is it's more or less useless without a harddrive.

Wii doesn't have that problem. I can tolerate not having a harddrive. It's annoying. VERY annoying but tolerable. The major issue with the Wii is Friend Codes. If they could fix the friend code situation I say the Wii would be the clear superior console this generation. Sony could do it if they dropped their price a lot and Microsoft could do it if they let me play online free.

Well it's really not that expensive when you think about it, I used to use that same logic as you before I got my 360.

If you pay month by month it is a bit pricey, but once you get the $50 deal it comes out to less than $5 per month. You actually get one month for free with no strings attached when you first make your account, and then once that it expires you just use that $50 card to redeem 13 months of Xbox Live. I just did the math and it comes out to roughly $4 (I rounded to the nearest dollar) per month.

But it's well worth it as there's a lot of features such as the voice chat, video chat, message system, and possibly the best one of all - party system. Plus the fact that it's stable and reliable makes the money worthwhile. Something that you don't get in the Wii, plus it's rather lame not being able to talk with others while playing a game online..

Wii is pretty reliable in my limited experience. It's just the worst interface ever. The party system sounds fun. According to my readings that's a relatively new thing isn't it? In it's system-wide context that is.

In the console platform, yes. Although the PS2 MIGHT have had something similar in some games, but I'm not too sure. However in the 360 you can party up in almost every online team based game. And with the new update you can private chat with friends who are playing a different game than you which comes in handy when you're playing something like Free for All on CoD where what others are saying is probably not too important.
