I have gave a warn (5%) to Vote4Drizzt. (check this topic to find his fault: http://www.pwnem.com/Free-Hosting-t-1066...l#pid5940)

Did I do the right thing or should I wait for a moderator to give him a warn?

What was your reason? I see no fault in his posts at all.

Anyway... GaMeR was online then, so I'm sure if GaMeR saw a problem in what Vote4Drizzt was posting he would have taken action himself.

My opinion - You did not do the right thing, dx4.

If you have an issue with another member please discuss it with a Gamer or a Moderator first. We are here to help solve your problems and keep the members happy.

There was nothing to warn him about in that thread.

I think I know why dx4 might of thought the post was bad, but if you look carefully the post was on topic.

To be eligible for the free hosting it's pretty much almost the same requirement as being a veteran. So I see why he asked about the requirements of being a veteran, and yes that thread was made already, but he probably didn't see it.

I'll add it to my sig. soon so people are aware of it. I'll remove the warning as well. Also what I'm going to say applies to everyone, not just dx4.

While the rules are meant to be followed, I'm not going to penalize you if you accidentally break them once in a while unless it's a serious offense. The only reason the rules are there is to ensure that there is some order in the forum or else things would get out of hand.

For example if you post pr0n after being a member for a while you will be warned and maybe banned as you should of known the rules by now. However, if you put an extra smiley or make a off topic post by accident I'm not going to go crazy on you. We all make mistakes, that's life. For those of you that have the ability to warn, focus more on warning those who are spamming URLs of other websites, posting inappropriate content, and/or disrespecting other members. Let some of the minor offenses slide, and if you notice that someone is getting out of hand let me know and I'll talk to them.

I know dx4 had good intentions so I won't penalize him for it either, but next time I won't be as lenient as I just explained how things should go clearly. If you have questions let me know.

So, if I see a problem by a member should I:

1) Warn that member?
2) Report that member?
3) Both warn and report?

I think when you warn somebody, it reports them as well anyway (a report of who you warned, the reason(s), etc. are sent to GaMeR)

But still, there are 2 buttons, warn and report... I think we should wait for a moderator or admin to log in and answer.

Well report is for reporting things so that further action may be taken by a moderator & above. Warn on the other hand is direct action from your part. And should be used right away if someone signs up to the forum just to spam.
