RE: I want a Wii but is it worth it??
It depends, if you have friends constantly over then you'll probably like it a lot.

If not, then probably not unless you get some really good games. Wii Sports on single player probably won't keep you hooked that long. If you face another person than maybe.

If you have a friend that has a Wii then rent Red Steel and Call of Duty. If you like them, then it might be a good idea to get the Wii along with those games. Those are the best two shooters for the Wii. If your looking for Mario Party kind of games, then Monkey Ball has a lot of those. As for other games, Marvel Alliance is not that great, and of course when Super Smash Bros. Brawl comes out you should get it.

There's also sports games like Madden out for it which I hear are good. If your into those games, then it might be worth considering that too.

RE: I want a Wii but is it worth it??
no this system is too different so u can't compare it to the 360 or ps3 or ps2 and say ur goin to get bored of it. It is kinda like a party system and ment to keep u active but honestly playing resident evil 4 is a great one player game also zelda and the upcoming manhunt 2 are great one player games...i have the wii and its totally worth it cause its 100% different from any system out there graphic wise its not the ps3 but you have to remember nintendo has ALWAYS focused on gameplay more than graphics and u can't tell me that the nintendo games suck cause they dont and the do a great job.

all in all....the wii IS worth it...why do u think u may still have a hard time finding them in the stores? At my store we get the wii's in and in prob 6hrs they are all gone.

redsteel maybe hard cause the controllers are too loose soo it may not be a good game to start with....that is my opinion.

RE: I want a Wii but is it worth it??
The way I see it is...

It's worth it if you find a a couple of good games that you think you'll be playing for a while. Like, I"m getting a WII for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Monster Hunter 3. I know I will be playing these games for a while.

Though, the WII is more for the Casual gamer. Yes, I know... Some hardcore gamers have it, but it's usually because they want a certain game for it. Like, Super Smash Bros. Brawl. You can sort've see how WII is aiming a lot at the casual gamers by creating "Lil games" like the WII sports n' such. Games that you can just pick up anytime and play.

The hardcore gamers tend to go to Xbox 360 or PS3.

It's definitely next gen due to the new controls and gameplay. Sure it's not as powerful as the 360/PS3 in terms of graphics and extra features, but it has it's own unique style of gameplay.

Plus even if games like Wii Sports and Red Steel are ported over to another console, they won't be as fun as on the Wii. Which is why it stands out from the rest.

RE: I want a Wii but is it worth it??
Don't buy the Wii as your primary consoles. Yes, its pretty hot and looks appealing with their new controller but after a week and so you will get really bored and sick of it. Its a GameCube with a remote that's all. Its not a next generation in my opinion.

Hardcore gamers usually pick up a PS3 or Xbox 360.

Casual gamers usually picks up PS3 or Wii.

I mean, just look at the game library, the Wii is getting blowed away by the 360 / PS3 library, Assasin Creed, Killzone 2, The Orange Box, and all.. It shouldn't be your primary console unless you are not willing to spend 399$ for a PS3 or Xbox.

You will buy a Wii as your primary console and you will regret doing so, watching how your friends talking about mass effects or the orange box or Assasin Creed or Ratchet & Clank, the Wii is just.. too gimmicky. The PlayStation 2 offers a better game library and its as powerful as the Wii. PS2 games library is even better than the Wii. Let's not forget that the online gameplay on the Wii is a pain on the ass, you cannot game unless you have a friend code and they changed that with some games but you still can't communicate with others.

RE: I want a Wii but is it worth it??
I agree about the Wii being mainly for casual gamers, and 360/PS3 for hardcore gamers..but I can't see the PS3 being for a casual gamer as well.

Unless they only enjoyed a particular game or franchise and decided to get it just to play that. But then they'd be so of hardcore as they are willing to spend that much money just to play that single game/franchise.

Well, you got loads of casual games like Little Big Planet, Singstar, Eye Of Judgment, Home network service. Sony tries to serve the casual gamer and the hardcore. Also there are some multiplatform games.
