The agony, my cousin.
Well, since this a "Gamer Lounge" I guess I am free to type here anything I want. I wanna share something personal and pretty annoying and stupid.
My cousin comes to drop by my house (Not my house really, my parents.) and he occupies the PS3 all day, playing Resistance and GRAW 2, FPS freak :P. I had an Xbox 360 before and I gave it to him. (Thats was a FATAL mistake.) and bought a new Xbox 360 for myself. A new one ofcourse <3. However, he didn't like the Xbox 360 because it doesen't look cool as the PS3 (WTF?) He wanted the black shiny console. I couldn't tell him "DONT TOUCH THE PS3" I mean he is only 9 and he is one of my favorite relatives, I can't let him down. His mom wanted to buy him a Wii but he totaly refused, he thought that it was too kiddish for him. ( I play Wii? I can't see why its too kiddish for him?) Its getting pretty annoying lately, his mom drops him into our house directly after school, he does his homework in our house and then he start playing Resistance: Fall Of Man online on my PSM account. Well, he is a good player though, but still. I have ran out of Ideas, I decided finaly to buy him a PS3 20 GB model with his favorite game, Resistance: Fall Of Man, Tom Clancy: Advance Warfighter 2. T_T It will murder my wallet, but i think it will give me some satisfaction. The thing I am scared of that he'll come and play his PS3 on my HD-TV... XD XD.. Any one had similar tricky situation? Some funny story similar to this unlike mine? Symphony Developers - We Make Games That We'd Play. |

RE: The agony, my cousin.
I got a 360 before all of my friends, and most of them would MURDER me by wanting to come over every day to play it. I had one friend, Andy something or another, who was a Senior (And I was a Freshman) who kept coming over and playing Oblivion for hours. He's cool and all, but god am I glad he's moved out of state for awhile. Honestly, it was almost on a daily basis. Similar thing happened when I got my PS2, my sister would come in wanting to play Dynasty Warriors or some stupid crap.
The best problem solver; A swift kick to the lower jaw. jk jk. But the REAL best thing to do is to slowly ween them away from it, get them interested in other things. I love my 360 and you love your PS3, but let's be honest, they don't control us. I could live without my 360, although it wouldn't be fun, and I'm sure you could too. Just get him interested in other things, not another CONSOLE really, just grab him a much cheaper PSP or something and grab the game you most think he'll like. Then play it all the time and exclaim things like "Whoa!" and "HOLY CRAP!" while he's near you. He may be a LITTLE older than the age when you can warp him after you, but own him a few times in RFM, declare your superiority, then get him to take after you and lure him away from your HDTV with something like a PSP. Kids don't normally have the best perceptions when it comes to what kinds of games they like. It depends on two things; There personal tastes for Genres, and the Graphics/Graphical Realism. The PSP doesn't have the best graphics, so find him a game that suits what he likes, with kids his age maybe crap like Naruto, or something like that. ![]() http://getoutofherestalker.blogspot.com/ |

RE: The agony, my cousin.
I must say you are a generous person, I never got anything that expensive from any relative.
And I think your spoiling him as well, sure he's only 9, but you can't just give him everything he wants. #1 He's not your son, and even if he was, you still shouldn't spoil him. Why? Because then he's going to get used to getting everything he wants and won't take no as an answer. When I was 9 I didn't get what I wanted, I received no as an answer many times which sucked during that time, but it showed me to value what I do have. What if he went over your house when your girlfriend was there and said he wanted her? Would you still say yes? lol jk..but the idea is there. But he is more than just a "relative" he is like a little brother and i didn't had the chance to experience having a little brother. Quote:#1 He's not your son, and even if he was, you still shouldn't spoil him. Why? Because then he's going to get used to getting everything he wants and won't take no as an answer. Yep he is not my son :P But little gamers deserve a console? You can't force him to play a Wii or 360 or DS? Honestly, he is a good gamer also. He is 1# on Counter Strike and BF2. :P Quote:What if he went over your house when your girlfriend was there and said he wanted her? Would you still say yes? lol jk..but the idea is there. My girlfriend is on paris with her father. "Quality Time" :P and she'll stay there for few weeks. Do i don't think this will happen. I will only buy him a PS3, just that. He doesn't know that but this sunday I am going take him to video games shop to choose a game for myself and then, SUPRISE! PWNED. A PlayStation 3! Quote:so find him a game that suits what he likes, with kids his age maybe crap like Naruto, or something like that.I doubt if he likes Naruto. My propaganda effects him really bad, and i despite Naruto so he does, but I'll see if i can sway him away from the PS3 and my lovely HDTV. But if he still insisted that he likes the PS3 because other people doesn't have it or because it looks cool i will buy him one. Quote:but own him a few times in RFM Why? What can that accomplish? RE: The agony, my cousin.
Well if he honestly likes the PS3 then get him one, what I meant was that if you just switches around so often, then it's not worth getting him one as it won't do him good in the long run. The reason I said that was because you said you had given him a 360 before and then he didn't want it. But since that's not the case, then it's ok to get him the PS3. As forcing him to like another console is not good, that's like SnakeTheFox getting a PS3 for Christmas lmao.
And since you do feel a close bond to your cousin, then I can see why your being that generous. He'll probably repay you later on as he grows (not necessarily with $ either.) Xbox Gamer Blog Read The Forum Rules Pwnem Veteran <- This explains what it is and how to become one. |

RE: The agony, my cousin.
Hmmm.. why don't we all buy a PS3 for SnakeTheFox for free and get a gun toward his head and force him to play it for like a whole week. He wont get food unless he finished the level. We'll break few 360's infront of him. Make him a custome-made toilet and the end of that hole there are few 360s. Yep, that would be awesome :P
But yeah, i gave him a 360 and he didn't played it. Now I am going to give him the PS3, a console the he likes, I guess. Symphony Developers - We Make Games That We'd Play. |

My head would explode.
Not that there'd be much to clean UP OH SELF-BURN! But yeah, my body would take away its own will to live. ![]() http://getoutofherestalker.blogspot.com/ |

Mohdgame Wrote:he is more than just a "relative" he is like a little brother and i didn't had the chance to experience having a little brother. I know what that feels like, but maybe he goes over for more then just your PS3, maybe he goes there to hang out with you. You should find that out before investing in that idea, because if he goes there for you then getting him a PS3 won't solve anything except making him REALLY happy. And like Gamer said: keeping him under your wing might prove usefull to you in the future, he will always look up to you and do as you do. The down side in that is that he will put you up in a pedestal and you might not be able to meet the idea of who he thinks you are. And the disappointment in his face could be capable of piercing all four chambers of your heart. It will hurt, trust me.
