It's received rather good reception so far by the press and I will vouch for it as well (at least from my demo impressions).

*The digital version will be the one obtained off the developer's official website rather than Steam.

System Requirements:
Windows XP or later, x86-compatible 800MHz processor, 512MB of RAM, 400MB Hard Drive space, DirectX-compatible 3D graphics with at least 64MB of addressable memory (such as an ATI Radeon 7200, NVIDIA GeForce 2, or Intel GMA 950). An internet connection is required to activate your installation.

As you can see above, the requirements are fairly reasonable and there's even a netbook config. option which might be good news if you own one. The file size isn't that bad either at only about ~420MB.

Brief game description: Imagine something along the lines of Fate and Diablo with randomized dungeons, pets, and a rather impressive editor to allow you to create custom content as well as download some cool stuff created by the Torchlight community.

With all that info out of the way, it's time to get down to contest details.

To gain an entry, reply to this thread stating what kind of pet you'd like to see implemented in Torchlight. It can be a real creature or a fictional one (if it's a fictional one, something you made up (as long as it's not obscene as well resembles a recognized creature) or references to books/games/movies etc. are both fine).

To gain 4 entries of instead of just one, draw the animal in Paint (or any other program) using any shade of PURPLE (this is to help detect cheating). Crappy pictures are encouraged, have a look at my pet "dragon" suggestion:


While your submission won't be judged on quality, do show some effort. So if it's supposed to look like a lion, it should slightly resemble one rather than having it look like a bat for instance...

The winners will be selected via a randomizer so having more than one entry should increase the chances of winning therefore, I highly suggest you consider submitting a drawing.

Also, to reward our more active members, whoever has been a member of the forum for at least 2 months and has 50+ posts will have a higher chance of winning a copy of the game as I'll reserve one of the three copies only for such members. I'll run the randomizer using only entries from members that meet this criteria.

The other two copies will not have this restriction though, so everyone will have an equal chance of winning them although obviously those who took the time to submit the drawing, will have a higher chance since they will have more than one entry.

Rules & regulations:

- In order to enter this contest you must have at least 3 non-spam posts excluding the reply made in this thread (the entry itself).
- All entries must be submitted by the deadline which is: November 30, 2009 11:59 PM EST. The bonus entry (drawing of the pet) can be submitted after the regular entry but it must be done prior to the deadline date for it to count.
- The winner will be contacted via PM and will have 48 hours to respond to that message in order to redeem their prize. If the prize is not redeemed on time, another participant will be awarded the prize. The next participant is subject to the same terms.
- Cheating attempts will result in not only disqualification but a permanent ban, so no dup. accounts etc.
- The deadline along with other details may be adjusted at our sole discretion.

As for everyone else, good stuff. Although @ jigsawhc, the requirements stated that it had to be in purple but seeing as it does look like you actually drew it, I'll let it slide. However, from this point on, it has to be in a shade of purple. No more exceptions, sorry.

Here's my entry: Squido. First thing that came to my head after I opened MS Paint...basically a giant, floating, purple squid. So useful.

Also, I've updated the original post to emphasize the purple requirement and modified the drawing criteria a bit (won't affect any existing entries). I basically allowed made up creatures as long as they are not obscene (no penis monster) and resemble legitimate ones (mixture of two existing creatures for instance).
