Overscan Sniper HD Review
Platform: Xbox Indie Games (Xbox 360)
Price: 240 MSP / $3 USD Type: Application My thoughts: At first sight, this appears to be a cool sniping game but unfortunately, that's not the case. Instead, it's a potentially useful tool to calibrate your TV in order to see if it has overscan problems hence the name. You see things via a sniper scope and are able to change the channels on the virtual TV to calibrate certain things. If you become enraged (which you probably will if you either find out that your TV does in fact have problems or paid 240 MSP for this) you can snipe the TV causing it to crack. You're only able to take one shot at it though which was disappointing, would have liked to unload several shots on it... Verdict: At 240 MSP, it's way overpriced in my opinion. You're better off purchasing an Indie Game that has some sort of calibration built-in if you really care about that (I believe Platypus and Johnny Platform Saves X-mas have something like that, not as detailed as this though) but ultimately, if your TV does have some sort of problem, I imagine you're screwed and since this application won't fix it either it seems rather pointless although I guess it does assist in identifying the problem. If it were 80 MSP instead, you might able to give it some consideration especially if you handled a lot of TVs perhaps as it would be a cool tool in that scenario but for the average person who wants to test out their only TV, the truth might hurt too much and I'd recommend saving the points. With that said, the trial is supposed to calibrate your TV but is not as accurate as the paid version so it might be worth downloading if you're really that curious but I'd think hard before purchasing it unless you can spare 240 MSP without a problem. However, you can be rest assured that it does get the job done at least from what I saw, just keep in mind that I'm no TV expert. This app was obtained from the developer rather than purchased, for review purposes. |

RE: Overscan Sniper HD Review
I decided to edit the review a bit as perhaps I overlooked the functionality aspect of it prior to the edit and made it clear that it indeed gets the job done (at least to the best of my knowledge).
