Snake, I agree 95% although fable 2 and bioshock are up there in this generation.

1.Bioshock
2.Fallout 3
3.Fable 2

Speaking of Bioshock, Bioshock 2 is going to have some tough competition as it's going to have to beat the original and Fable 2/Fallout 3 for instance.

Getting back to Fallout 3, I wish there was a demo out (for the 360). Also if anyone has a decent PC you could grab an old tech demo for F3 that's lurking the net. It's not really an accurate representation of Fallout 3 though as the demo is mainly based on an abandoned prototype (or something like that) but still might be worth looking into.

Believe me, you wont get bored of it any time soon. This is the only game (that isn't composed of 90% level-grinding) that I've been able to play non-stop since release... that was a month ago. I still haven't completed half the side-quests (which make up 99% of the game, main quest is short-ish).

Truly though, that isn't completely due to the depth of the quests (while some are quiet deep), it's actually due to the fact that if you, like me have a relatively short attention span, you'll find yourself unable to just quest-grind. I can't recall the metaphorical metric ton of times I've been on a quest, and just found myself raiding some old schoolhouse full of raiders and a hidden ant cave. Then when I try to get back on task, I end up finding some abandoned vault full of clones named Gary (that, coincidentally, can only say 'Gary', but in different tones to demonstrate anger, frustration, confusion, and so on).

It's honestly the longest I've stayed constantly interested in one game. Normally after a few weeks of non-stop playing, I'll quit for a week and play something else. Not with this. The most I've gone without playing it has been two days. I've put in almost 100 hours of play time, and I still haven't scratched the surface of the game.

Get it. If you like Fable II or Oblivion, or any free-form 'Choose your destiny' type of game, you'll absolutely orgasm over this.

... and if you don't, you're a backwards subhuman Pollock. YOU HEAR ME POLSKI! Just kidding.

that's the thing I got bored of Oblivion, Fable II i completed and got nearly 100% on before i traded it in, that's because Fable II isn't just oblivion in 3rd person it's got the whole zelda esc to it, so i didn't get bored of, I just keep thinking because Oblivion bored me to death after around 5 hours in, Fallout will be the same.

Although the Gary bot's sound awesome, and i was tempted to get it just to see them.

Hey L,

I played Morrowind and was bored to DEATH... But I rented Fallout 3 last week and couldn't put it down until I wanted to play dead space. The only reason I stopped was because I didn't want to become addicted. But the game is great and you should try it anyway

Haven't had the opportunity to play this yet but have heard nothing but GREAT things about it. I have seen a few bits and pieces of it but I am definitely excited to get the chance to play it for myself ... I read up to the SPOILER part of your review snake, as I didn't want to ruin it for myself ... I hope it is as good as everyone says

RE: Fallout 3 (and why it's the greatest game of this generation)
my falout arrived two days ago. I haven't gotten very far but it seems like a very cool game. It'll take me maybe an hour or two more before the controls are memorized and there's not much to do yet but I think I like the direction this game is going.
I've heard about all sorts of problems with the PS3 version and the only thing I've noticed so far is that even though the only weapon I have is a baseball bat when I exit conversations I'll see some sort of gun instead of what I'm actually carrying.

Interesting glitch..I've had something similar to that occur in other games at times, as for the whole baseball bat thing. Kind of reminds me of Bioshock, except that you start off with a wrench instead.

Fallout 3 was truly an amazing game. Unfortunatly until broken steel, I'm finished playing it. However some of the better points of the game included that it was more plausible than Oblivion. Also there was no type of mythical spells or non-realistic creatures in Fallout 3. I could buy that there were a group of kids living on their own in a cave and also I could buy that people became genetically altered due to surviving the radiation from the environment. Also, agree that the weapon selection is quite good, especially with the named weapons.

Oblivion is a Fantasy game... Of course Fallout is going to be more plausible..
