RE: consoles in general vs. PC
I feel that pc gaming can be better both in the long and short run. The PC is highly customisable and with sites like ebay and the numerous IT stores you can pick up the parts for a pc relatively cheap. With consoles you buy the console and have to pay extorsionate pricing if there are any hardware upgrades required and the console becomes outdated in a couple of years. The pc however is just a parts upgrade required every 6 months or so.
Just my 2c worth anyway. Pedro |

RE: consoles in general vs. PC
Yes, a pc can be better for gaming purposes, but it costs some money to buy games and have to buy parts every few months. I can't get comfortable in front of a pc as long as I do a console.

RE: consoles in general vs. PC
PC Games are a pain as you generally need a pretty souped up customised system to do things with it. Consoles are very much just pick up and play. Though I must admit, games cater for different audiences on different systems. Imagine Wii Sports coming out for the PC?

God no. Hitting the arrow key to punch? Ahhhh!
The only games I really like on PCs are 2d games. You can have so many types without having to upgrade anything. Consoles are more convenient because they don't make the game exceed the consoles capability. But the computers, they do whatever they want as long as the technology exists. |

RE: consoles in general vs. PC
IMO Console is better when it comes to gaming. You just get your Console, plug it in and Play :)
with Computers i have to worry about my Ram, my grafix my Hardisk space AND It mostly laggs like hell when im playing newer games. When playing on console you dont have to worry about Lagg, it all runs smoothly. Thats why i stick with consoles. ![]() | Mi SSBB friend Code: 3652-2014-4072 | add me :D |

RE: consoles in general vs. PC
Of course. Plus you get a tv screen to boot. You could actually customize a an arcade machine as much as you want to.

RE: consoles in general vs. PC
I see the debate still rumbles on! I've traditionally been a bit of a PC Fan-boy - My favourite games have always been FPS's and I still play a lot of UT and CSS even now, and I've always maintained that you really need a keyboard and mouse to play anything that requires an aim. Sure I was shown by virtue of a HALO and Timesplitters night that you *can* play these on consoles but I still never really could get the hang of looking with a joystick.
That said, I've played around with a few of the more modern consoles like the Wii, PS3, Xbox and so forth, and must concede that consoles have a certain playability about them. Like someone mentioned above, you plug it in, pick up the control and play - There's no installing, tweaking graphics settings, mapping keys, it's just ready to go out the box. I know I'll always want the best of both worlds, though. |

RE: consoles in general vs. PC
Nothing wrong with that. I say go for pc if you have the budget, get a console if you need a fixed price. With games at a set price as well.

RE: consoles in general vs. PC
I don't think it's true that you need to upgrade your video card every 6 months on PC. Just because the graphics companies release new hardware on that schedule, doesn't mean game developers are at that same level of advancement.
Things will last longer if you don't worry so much about having the bleeding edge graphics. Features can be turned off, resolutions lowered to make new games play smoothly. I mean, it's supposed to be about the gameplay, right? You have to figure in other costs, like paying for XBOX LIVE vs. Free online MP on PC, and the fact that map packs and mods are usually free downloads VS. Pay to play on LIVE and PSN. Also, you can sell your old graphics card when you upgrade (some maintain their value better than others). Right now, there are some really good deals on amazing graphics cards that are only one or two generations off the bleeding edge. I might build a new pc soon, although it is nice that branded pcs are actually quiet. I would love to build a motion platform for racing games, that's something that the consoles just don't have. |
