has anyone played star wars galaxies? I'm thinking about getting an account to mess around with ...I'm not one to play MMO's but i am a star wars fan so i was really considering giving it a shot.

Can anyone give some points as to why or why not to get this game?

Take the trial first Deagle. I haven't checked it out but I remember another member on here played and said it was very good and very addictive.

I still think it is worth buying for the fact it is one of the first online games Lucas has had. That I know of anyway. I could be way off.

Boring quests generally consisting of moving an object from point A to point B.

Hideously slow leveling.

Lag when entering certain settlements.

Lack of interesting terrain.

Boring space combat. Looks cool on the cover, but basically drains into being an endless tirade of "my blaster cannon is bigger than yours". If you're looking for a space-combat MMO go with EvE Online.

I know this from playing this game for a month. It looks like a ball of fun on the case, but like City of Heroes it quickly suffers from "Every Other MMO" syndrome, where it fails to break the mold set by WoW and such.

Boring quests generally consisting of moving an object from point A to point B. -that depends on your expertise..I was a bounty hunter..i found it pretty interesting that at level 21 you could go after PvP bountys

You also forgot to mention how many empty cities there are in just about every galaxy on every planet...you will only find people at starports...mostly in mos eisley in tatooine[/color]

lol im going to take it that I am not an MMO person seeing i lost interest in everything in less time then the demo gave me...(14days)
i dunno, i gave it a shot and i loved it at first but it just got repetitive. I like explosions and shooting people in the head more i guess. lol snake's review=My Survey.

Well when I played it (about 2 years ago) there actually weren't many abandoned settlements. I guess the game has lost a lot of its playerbase since then.

If you want an MMO with storyline and interesting gameplay try EvE Online (you can download a 14 day free trial off of Steam), it's as much an MMO as any other MMO, but once you really get the ball rolling and join a corporation (guild) of some sort, it can get pretty fun, especially being a pirate, finding people dumb enough to fly massive cargo ships unprotected, and jamming their electronics and disabling their warp-drive before looting their cargo and blowing them up. They can even place a bounty on you; there are literally no limits to placing a bounty you can drive by some noob and offer 1 billion ISK (in game currency) to have him killed, and someone will do it. Bounty Hunters even get their own in-game news about the people with the highest bounties and where they are suspected of hiding (all information from other players; no mod tomfoolery).
