Quake Wars Demo!
That's right folks they finally have released a demo for ET Quake Wars! It only has one map, but all the classes.
Check out the trailer: And the best part of all, the demo: http://quakewars.filefront.com/file/Enem...Demo;82772 I played the demo for a bit yesterday and I enjoyed it. I've been playing ET:Wolfenstein on and off for a while, and IMO Quake Wars is an improvement. However, it's now modern combat, instead of the WWII style. So if you don't like modern combat, you won't like this game. I'll post some screenshots later, and there's a lot of servers to play on, as well as a decent amount of people playing. So if you plan on buying this game I recommend you try out the demo first to see how it is. I managed to get the game working at a playable rate on my PC by playing it windowed with low texture settings. I had about ~150 ping and still found it quite playable. So if you have a good card (which I don't) you should have no problem playing it. Xbox Gamer Blog Read The Forum Rules Pwnem Veteran <- This explains what it is and how to become one. |

RE: Quake Wars Demo!
You should try playing the demo without upgrading to see how it runs.
If anything you might just have to upgrade your video card, and maybe RAM. But if you have 1GB of RAM it should be good enough provided that you have a good video card. Xbox Gamer Blog Read The Forum Rules Pwnem Veteran <- This explains what it is and how to become one. |

GaMeR Wrote:You should try playing the demo without upgrading to see how it runs. I have good PC if you didn't count the graphics card. I had Nvidia 8600 which is great, but something happened to it and it no longer works. I took my PC to more than 1 place and they said that the graphics card can no longer work, it died. I thought that I wont play on PC anymore with my PS360 around. So I just installed my old graphics card Nvidia 6600. I might get 8800 GTS which has good performance and cheaper than 8800 GTX. I think the whole 8800 is a rip-off, buy 8600 you will have the same performance :P. I have 2 GB on this computer. Gonna download the Demo. Symphony Developers - We Make Games That We'd Play. |

RE: Quake Wars Demo!
Post a thread in the PC Talk section, maybe we can help you :)
Just be as detailed as possible with the problem your facing, also give your computer model and what operating system you ran on it (Windows XP, SuSE etc.) Xbox Gamer Blog Read The Forum Rules Pwnem Veteran <- This explains what it is and how to become one. |

RE: Quake Wars Demo!
Yeah that's usually to the best way to do it, as if you try to fix Windows it might cause more problems and a bigger headache for you unless it's a small problem.

Yeah, you see, windows is a pain on the ass to try to fix it. You have to format it like every 6 months and all. It's good to have Linux to do your work and Windows XP for photoshop or other programs that doesen't work on Linux. External HD is a good solution.

RE: Quake Wars Demo!
Yep, the downside to Linux is that a lot of games won't work on it, unless you use Wine. But you need a lot of RAM and a good graphics card to pull it off.
*EDIT* Quake Wars will work on it, but it hasn't been released yet. The demo is only for Windows at the moment. And also Wine is not compatible with all games, I'm not even sure if Quake Wars will work on it. The best realistic solution is to set up two partitions or use two HDs, one for Windows for gaming and other apps that are only available in Windows, and another to do other tasks like web browsing, word processors etc. on Linux as you don't have to worry about viruses, or it freezing on you and losing your document.
