The grand folks at Bethesda have released some new gameplay videos for Fallout 3.

Yes, it basically looks to be a total-conversion mod for Oblivion to include man-portable nuclear slingshots and hydraulic punching gloves and unexploded nuclear ordinance, but... uh, I forget where I was going with that. Holy balls this game looks amazing though.

Also, just so everyone knows, the guy playing is using a cheat to make all the VATS targeting hits ever miss; so no, it isn't going to make the game into EZ-mode like the guy makes it seem. If you notice the percentages next to the selected area, that's what the chance would be of him hitting them there if he wasn't using the cheats.

I'd also like to attract your attention to 2:29 in video 1;

What is says Wrote:Lady Killer Perk: In Combat you do +10% damage against female opponents. Outside of combat, you'll sometimes have access to unique dialogue options when dealing with the opposite sex.

I like Bethesda, I really do, but I always get bored of there games, however, this has guns in it, now don't get me wrong I don't find the fact that just because it has guns in the game = awesome, because that's f**king stupid, I mean, RPG + Guns = awesome gaming....well as long as it's done right.

There's something about having a FPS or TPS gameplay mixed with RPG gameplay, it just works wonders for me.

The lock-on system seems quite impressive. As for the storyline, it's not that spectacular but it has that Bioshock feel to it so it's probably good. Also, since I'm not too familiar with the Fallout series I have some questions.

Do you have full control over what goes on, or do you have to take the "correct" path? For example, when that guy tells him to blow up the city is that mandatory or can you simply keep the city which will result in you facing off the guy rather than helping him etc.

*EDIT* I looked it up and apparently you are free to make your own choices but it didn't really specify what kind of outcomes would occur in a situation similar to the one I mentioned above.

ive been waiting for this game for a long time... but when i first heard about it, i was thinking... "hmm... this isnt the fallout 3 i was waiting for." i just hope its not alot like oblivion... that being booooring. but i do want to try it.

I don't really see the resemblance to Bioshock, besides the time period it's set in.

Although again, Fallout 3 is basically Oblivion 2, set in the future. So imagine Oblivion-esque choices, IE Good, Bad, or Neutral.

I like the dialogue options I've seen so far. One of my favorite choices in Oblivion was the option to say nothing, although especially when the *say nothing* option actually appears in the dialogue choice box, that way I can play out my fantasy of being a super hardass sociopath psycho who murders people in their sleep and collects their hats as trophies so I can mount them in my Bravil home for all to see... er uh, I forgot where I was going with that too.

Anywho, I think it's going to be amazing. The only people I've seen smashing it so far are fallout fans who suffer from a clinical case of Nostalgia. Yes, Fallout 1 was a much different game than this game is, but so far, all the ways I've seen Bethesda rework it have been a plus. Just try not to think of it as a Fallout game and more of another Elder Scrolls game, if that helps.
