Maplestory
Platform – PC Developer – Wizet/Nexon Graphics – The graphics are anime/chibi based to attract the main target audience this game is supposed to be played by: kids, females, and anime obsession lovers. The color of everything is strong, but one can set it to the lowest quality for faster gameplay. There are tons of monsters which one can see throughout their lifetime of playing this game. Really unique things about Maplestory’s graphics are the use of emoticons. There is 7 default emoticons when you start the game. They range from an irritated look, the smile [my favorite] , a cynical look, a sad look, an angry look, a questionable look, and an exasperated look. There are also thousands of possibilities that one can do to make his own characters look unique. Simply by wearing regular gear you can find in the game, or via the Cash Shop, which will be explained later.Controls – There is absolutely no way that you can change the default way you move around in the game; which is the arrow keys. You also cannot use the numpad. Almost everything else is customizable though. There are two main buttons that one must absolutely have on their keyboard; the jump function and the attack function. The jump is used almost exclusively for traveling, but certain character classes use it as part of their skill repertoire. The attack button is incredibly usefil in Party Quest’s. Just recently, they have added skill macros, which allow the use of three skills into one button. Audio – Again, the music in the beginning is used to attract their target audience. It also gets old, very fast if you don’t like it. It’s a good thing there’s an option which will enable you to mute it. The sounds also get old. There’s a sound when you attack, when you jump, when you use skills, when you use potions… As for others around you, you can only hear their attacks. Gameplay – Warrior: Close combat melee class. Magician: Exclusively magic based combat class. Thief: Long ranged combat/close combat class Archer: Exclusively long ranged combat. Choose your favorite class to play because the game will get old very fast! The entire story is about grinding, more or less, and it only gets harder during the higher levels. (During the end of 2nd job and the start of 3rd job) Most people will have quit by then or stop trying to level, even though they haven’t even achieved 4th job yet. There are lots of quests to do, mostly depending on your level, but the rewards sometimes are simply not worth it. Almost all of the time, the better rewards depends solely on luck. Party quests are probably the best thing in this game. Usually, you group with 5 or less people, solve puzzles, kill the monsters, and kill the boss. There’s a unique party quest which involves one party versus another party, which they have to kill monsters to gain points. With those points, they can use it to summon more monsters, summon protectors to protect the monsters, or use de-buffs against the opposing team. It is very expensive (game wise and time wise) to play this game because of potion costs. If you are a fresh, new starter then, really there’s no hope for you unless you go in anyway and gather experience. But, you will never forget it because the game is so repetitive. You have to learn how to be smart and play the game, otherwise, you will find yourself in the gutter. The Cash Shop is where players can use REAL money to buy pixels… or things in game. Usually, it’s used for looks to cover up their gear, or to even change some of their looks like eyes, eye color, skin color, hair, hair color. Some of the more important items that you can buy with real money are store permits so that you can sell things that you were hunting to players who need them for mesos (the in-game currency.) 2x exp cards, which doubles the experience for a set amount of time. Safety charms, which, when you die, you won’t lose any experience. But the community here is really bad in Maplestory. You must learn to rely and trust only yourself, and even then, whether it’s your real life friends or online friends, it’s only to an extent. I'll give this game a 4/10. |

RE: Maplestory Review
Ugh I hate this game.
I never played it once, outside of maybe for 30 seconds when I was trying to help my sister get her new comp screen working, and used it to test it. However watching her play it, I've found it's no different than Habbo Hotel; it's an interactive chat sim. That's it. Calling it a video game, or even worse, an MMO, is a gross overstatement of its quality. It isn't a game, it's a chat room with minigames and a customizable avatar. Whuppity doo. That's not even commenting on how the playerbase is 80% Teenage girls, 19% 40 year old pedophiles impersonating teenage boys to get with the teenage girls, and 1% people who're just bored. That's my 20 second review to compliment yours. 1/10, F-, do not pass go, do not collect $200. ![]() http://getoutofherestalker.blogspot.com/ |

RE: Maplestory Review
LOL.
I really had to make this fairly because I'm sure I would've said the same thing as you had. There really are some high points though in the game. But it's only if you're rich... Also there can be some memorable moments too. :D |

oneillz8o8 Wrote:LOL. I just hate the concept of paying for ingame shit, especially when it's as low quality and easy to code as stuff in Maplestory is. They're not developing a game, they're robbers. They're robbing people of there hard earned money because little Susie has to impress her E-Pals with some colorful hat that does jack shit. ![]() http://getoutofherestalker.blogspot.com/ |

RE: Maplestory Review
Snake, don't you think I know the negative points of this game?
I've been playing it on and off for about 2 years. There's only one reason I play this game and it's for my friend. It's only to help him transfer stuff he needs/wants. I know that they are making tons of profit for such little things but what can we do? All we can do (as far as who is playing the game) is not to buy anything, to buy as little as possible, or to have someone else gift us such things. |
