Is it really possible?
so let's see, the last time I ever really played a console consistently was back in the PS2 days...but even then i liked N64 more. but anyways...yesterday I stayed over at side_scrollr's house and played some gamecube SuperSmash Bro's melee..still today my thumb is sore from the joysticks. =\

and I thought about it today and I noticed I never had that problem back in the day...(back when i had no job or responsibilities)

Is it possible that my thumb was calloused over due to all that console business? or is my thumb just fat and outta shape..=/

Cuz if it did, i didn't even know finger tips could do that!

i think i should stick to PC gaming lol. =p

RE: Is it really possible?
I know what you mean. With current consoles and with PC, you're thumbs don't really hurt, because with consoles, joysticks are being covered in rubber or silicon or whatever it is, and PC, you don't use your thumb.

A month or so ago, I took out the N64 and played Star Wars: Pod Racer (it being the only 64 game I have left that works) and after an hour or so, my thumb was murdering me. And I don't ever remember having that problem as a kid.

So yeah, it may be that we've lost callouses on our thumbs or fingers or what not, but then again we ourselves may have just been a little more padded back then.

RE: Is it really possible?
Id say thumbs are out of shape.

You can build callouses on the tips of fingers. I play guitar and I know if I haven't played in a while they get outta shape and sore next time I play. Have to build it all back up again... Same concept, different finger exercise.

RE: Is it really possible?
I actually have a giant callous along the right side of my right foot, due to the fact that I wear boots without socks because for some reason my boots don't fit with socks... But I find that If I don't wear boots for a couple of days, my callous kinda disappears, and next time I wear boots it hurts like hell, since the hard skins gone and all I got there is fresh, soft skin. Sorta the same concept as well.. Just different limb....

Yeah just try going back to a NES pads! I went back to one fairly recently, and it hurt my palms. Those square joypads? Please tell me what Nintendo were thinking with them, because I don't know.

Heck, even SNES pads feel wierd and flat compared to the PS3/360 ones!

RE: Is it really possible?
Thats the game I have left on my N64 Death.
I can relate to a point, but I started playing my N64 about a month ago. Had been 4 or 5 years since I had, and the control is rough on the top, but I never got used to putting my thumb on the top of the control. I actually use my thumb and index finger to move the stick. Weird eh? Of course I got used to just using my thumb with the nunchuck. (Not much choice there)
