RE: iphone!!!
Well other companies are developing iPhone Killers as we speak. So it's only a matter of time until a cheaper and more efficient iPhone alternative comes out.

There's also plenty of iPod Killers. However, I'll admit that in terms of accessories, the iPhone/iPod will still be leading. But keep in mind that the accessories tend to be overpriced as well, especially the official ones.

Specktren Wrote:60 a month 1st line (700 mins)
10 a month for 2nd line (shared mins)
30 a month for data
30 a month for second line data
15 a month for 1500 text

145 plus tax ....

The price of the phone should start at around 400 (they say 200 but thats a crock of shit)

400 + (145x24) = $3,880 for 2 years of crap.

I wanted to edit this ... it is now correct.

I am still not impressed

Deadpool Wrote:And the problem with touch screen is people are whacking it too hard with the finger. Thats the price you pay for not wanting a stylus.

The iPhone can't use a stylus. It's heat-sensitive. That's why people who have long nails can't use the tips of the nail to type into it.

As for the new iPhone's price, if you're not gonna get a text plan, then why are you getting something with a touch-screen QWERTY? If you just want to look cool touching your music library, then get the iPod Touch and there ya go. Also, if you're switching to AT&T just for the iPhone, then you need to try AT&T's other phones 'cause you're missing out.

And as for customizing, it's the same as a car. Why be bland and boring when you can stand out and show you're different? I feel f**king good when people open up my V3i and wonder how I modded the shit out of it with skins, mini-LCD wallpapers, custom ringtones, mood lights (like the Sidekick LX) when I receive a call, and make my Moto M logo "breathe" like the Mac's power light when I get txts or voicemails.

Personally, the iPhone is decent. Not amazing, but if you're tired of buttons and the same old phone, then the iPhone may be worth it. But as for me, I'm hitting it up with a BlackBerry Curve 8310 in 2 weeks or I'll wait 'till August and snatch that LG Voyager *drools* when Verizon's "exclusive" contract dies and LG launches that gorgeous work of cellular technology to AT&T... OR I'll just buy the LG Voyager out of contract. :]

LG Voyager FTW

As for the prices Specktren gave, putting the basic 450 minutes, which is far too much for people addicted to txt and the norm for everyone I know who has AT&T, adding in the MEdia Max package (unlimited TV, messages, and data), and the iPhone.

$39.99-450 minutes
$35.00-MEdia
$199.99-3G iPhone

$275 for that 1st month. So that's basically $75 a month after that, plus tax, and then adding your other line, it'd be $95.

If you have to spend thousands of dollars to show people you're "Different", you're being counterproductive. All people show me when they walk up with some thousand dollar gadget is that they're desperately compensating for something else more personal.

It's a piece of plastic made in China for the price of a postage stamp, it's superficial and replaceable, and if that's all people look at when they see someone, then they're not the kind of people I want to associate with anyway.

I don't have to spend thousands of dollars to be "different", and I seriously pity any fool who does.

As for everything else said, A++ would read again.

Yeah again, I agree with everything in your thread except that quoted paragraph.

It's a cultural thing I suppose. Living near Detroit, I see all these people with expensive "bling", phones, cars, etc, but all I see is a bunch of sheep buying into a massive marketing conglomerate that's telling them spending thousands of dollars on useless features will somehow make them "unique".

Personally, the only feature I use on my phone is the "call" ability, if people even still remember that feature in the ocean of all the others.

RE: iphone!!!
The only customizable feature I care about is the ringtone as the default ones usually suck.

Plus most phones nowadays let you set a specific ringtone for certain contacts. So when a specific person is calling you, you'll be able to know right away due to the distinctive tone.

Are they seriously going through with the $199? I mean Thats putting it out for over 500 bucks less than (starting of) the first generation which is still going for $300+. That being before the first price decrease of course. They are absolutely horrible business people if thats the case.

I think its going to be something like "With a two year contract the 8gb will be $199 and the 16gb will be $299" That would be more understandable. I'm sure they will charge a higher price for out the door if they do not force you to contract to get it.

Still if you are on contract and not on family plan the second line doesn't matter. Family plans start at 70 a month for 700 mins (technically 80 a month because of the other line) so my original and edited post were still wrong.

It wouldn't be so bad if they offered more bang for the buck but they aren't. Its the same effing phone with a black back and 3g ... whoo ... Go Steve Go ... Way to listen to the people!

The only good thing they have done so far is confirmed that 200 texts will be included in the $30 unlimited data payment that you have to get to activate the phone.

So 2 16gb iPhones 600
family plan + 1 line 80 a month
about 60 a month for 2 data charges
Forced price of a 2 year contract is 3960.
Not including tax title and fees.

Thats still about 2000 bucks for just one line (not including any other features you might want to add like media max.) Might not seem like a lot over 2 years but thats a down payment on a car to me, or a trip to Vegas.

Its still not worth it for the same phone with a new look though. If they at least made it more customizable, better sound and less buggy. Longer battery and some MMS going on, it might be reasonable.

I don't see the point in it when I can go to a local competitor and buy a better phone (less flashy, more customizable) have more features and still pay less without being forced into a contract.

I want my phone to be like a tattoo. Apples just not doing that for me.

I am sorry you disagree Deadpool but I really don't see how you can think its a good deal.

I love Apple, I always have but first time or second generation or whatever the case may be Steve and the boys could have done a way better job on this phone. I had high expectations I guess for a company who have never seem let me down before. It's a disappointment to see them just in it for the money verses the happiness and loyalties of customers.
