Have all game based movies failed?

RE: Have all game based movies failed?
I actually kinda liked the silent hill movie. Maybe because every time I know i'm tired I can watch it and pass out ... hmmm ....

But Video game movies are just like Comic book movies. You cant really make them as good as the original. Its hard to fit YEARS of work and story line and twists of plots into an hour an 30 mins max.

Well, it's not hard ... The industry is just lazy and would rather spend millions of dollars on the wrong thing to make that explosion look cooler then please the people with the correct story line.

I actually liked the House of Dead movie. That's like the only movie that was good game-based wise... I really didn't care if it didn't have any plot. It was almost all purely action.

RE: Have all game based movies failed?
there are only 2 good video game movies out there, one of them is final fantasy advent children... im not a ff fan so i didnt care for it, but i wasnt supposed to... thats what made it good, it was made strickly for the fans and not made to be a stupid hollywood blockbuster that anyone can enjoy, and thats where video game movies go wrong. i think in order for a movie based of a game to be good, it has to be made for the fans, thats why i was pissed when i went to see silent hill and those other stupid movies like mario bros. and the second video game movie that is good is the king of kong... and thats not even based off a video game its a documentary so... yeah, i was going to put the wizard in here... but lets face it, the actual movie sucked, it was just a big Nintendo commercial.

RE: Have all game based movies failed?
Well, I can think of one movie that would rock the sox off.
Zelda.
A lot of game movies are b movies. Only a few have been pretty good. Like Spider Man, and Iron Man was decent.

RE: Have all game based movies failed?
There was a semi-payed for Zelda movie a couple of months back. But since it didn't get any funding bigger than maybe a couple thousand dollars, it didn't happen, and what I saw of it in their "teaser trailers", sucked..

But a fully funded project may be worth while..

RE: Have all game based movies failed?
The resident evil series hasn't been a complete disgrace ... I mean come on now ... they got Milla for lead.

Maybe I am just in love with her but that makes it worth watching in my eyes.

If Uwe Boll tried to make the MGS movie, someone would murder him.

lmao Snake.. I'd do it myself if it came to it..

And I agree with Spek, even though I've never played any of the RE games. But I thought the movies weren't that bad..

RE: Have all game based movies failed?
Most of them never stay true to the original comic. I think they have to make at least two versions. One for the action packed movie goers, and one for the comic reader die hards.
