RE: Gamer status
not to be a douche but that definition kinda confuses me >< not only that but i wouldnt use wikipedia as a source. i suppose its an argument that cannot be put to a closure, because just like we have shown whats retro to one person might not be retro to another. but im also not good at explaining my points ;_; once i get better at that i will get back to you lol. i mean, ive heard a def of retro gamer to be anyone who plays games and consoles that are not the newest... in that scenes you are right, n64 and playstation would be retro because they are not either 360, ps3 or wii... but thats not what retro means to me. i like to think retro gaming is playing the games that started it all, yes i do believe that the n64 was revolutionary, but i dont believe it is gaming roots such as atari and classic arcade cabinets. but im not going to disagree with you DeathNoteL... if thats what you believe a retro gamer is then awesome, thats just not what i see it as.

2% of gamers will get my signature... 97% will think I'm being a lame copier... n00bs. 1% wont even get what the 97% means lol

RE: Gamer status
Im The Kind of gamer that is verry Sceptic to games i havent played.
I wont buy a new game unless its a game that is a sequel to a game i like or it got a really high score on Gamer magazines.

I dont really broaden my horizons like my brother do so you never see me buying a game just because it has a nice Cover. I must really know the game and at least play it 1 time before i buy it.

Dont really know what to call that type x)

RE: Gamer status
I consider a retro gamer to be a person that plays arcade machines. You know the old ones you slip a coin into a slot and the game pops up on the screen.....
In all honesty, there are only 3 generations.
1. Arcade Machines
2. NES-Ps3, 360, Wii
3. Gameboy-DS, PSP

RE: Gamer status
I still have all of my old systems (NES/N64/Gamecube). I finally got a 360 when my PS2 died and my little brother wouldn't let me borrow his any longer. I'll never look back.

RE: Gamer status
I wish my sister had kept her NES, but she let it go. I still have my N64. Hoping to keep it another 20 years and sell it for a chunk of cash when it becomes an antique.

RE: Gamer status
I own a 360 and a PS2 and every game I have ever bought, I beat before I get a new one... Personally, Cod4 and Battlefield will bore me way faster than Frogger on Atari would...

Its just something about old-school games that grab me, yet I don't own any... =/
I think the thing with me and old games is, it really overwhelms me when I start thinking about how far we have come in the gaming industry as far as Gameplay and Graphics.... but are the new games what you call "Original"?
IMO.... I don't think ANY of the new games that have come out for 360 or PS3 are original as you can almost ALWAYS find an old school game that resembles the concept...

Yet I drown myself in misery playing the new games, wishing I had an old one?
I'm a bit confusing when it comes to games so I just play the new ones like Battlefield and GTA4 until I get absolutely tired of it and go back to it in a few days...

RE: Gamer status
Yeah and the good thing about the 360 versions is that they enhanced the graphics a bit. Some of the retro games even have online co-op added as well such as Sonic The Hedgehog 2.
