RE: Frontlines: Fuel of War
Just picked it up today.
The dedicated servers are going through shit right now (probably a rush of people overloaded 'em, I'd guess), so only player made servers work ATM... However, singleplayer is surprisingly quite well done. Decent voice acting, a few sequences when this Hard Rock solo breaks out, and your squadmates actually call out enemies and such. It actually follows a coherent storyline. It's short though, only 3-4 hours worth. However it has mild replay ability, with the different routes you can head through in each mission. A few fairly awesome moments (possible spoilers!): 1: You're driving in a tank column, heading down a desert highway, when in the distance a nuke goes off and the shockwave literally passes over your tank, lighter debre/personal are flailing in the wind, but only you and a few other 60-ton tanks survive to proceed into this massive armored battle with this Mushroom cloud and debris just falling around you. All of this is in game. Well, the second nuke anyway. The first one is a CG sequence showing you running into a tank (most tanks/APC's in the real world are NBC proof (Nuclear, Chemical, Biological)), then once you get in, and start moving, another one goes off in game. 2: When you're fighting in Moscow (this isn't CoD2's Moscow, huge 100+ story buildings are rampant), you can look up to see streams of AA rounds going into the sky, Mushroom clouds in the distance, and flak rounds/the occasional jet passing by. 3: The detail in lots of areas is amazing, like in CoD4, pop cans, normal debris, sleeping bags, tents, makeshift shanty houses with grills, chairs ext in them. Going through Moscow you'll see couches hanging out of windows, and just stuff that makes the city feel like it was once a city, not some Quake-esque battle-arena. 4: Running through sabotaging a tank production facility. You can literally see strung up turrets with wires hanging out, and gutted tank husks where you can look inside and see all these electronics sitting around, and assembly lines, stacks of barrels, just general detail stuff, but in bulk. 20 or so Tank Husks, just being ripped up in this massive gunfight inside the factory. Then you step out the door, no loading screen or anything, and it's another battle. It's just a general GOOD singleplayer experience, not the best, not even really good, but it's a decent/good game, and VERY good for a Multiplayer centric games standards. ![]() http://getoutofherestalker.blogspot.com/ |

RE: Frontlines: Fuel of War
I personally haven't played it yet, but some XBL players I know in RL had played the demo and said that CoD 4 was still superior.
Any input on that comparison? Counter Strike 300 Read The Forum Rules Pwnem Veteran <- This explains what it is and how to become one. |

RE: Frontlines: Fuel of War
It's a different game.
CoD4 is more of a deathmatch type game, Frontlines is more of a all-out warfare (Jets, Heli's, Tanks ext) type of game. You're not going to find perfectly tuned weapons in Frontlines like in CoD4, but you're not going to find massive 50 player battles in CoD4 like you can in Frontlines. ![]() http://getoutofherestalker.blogspot.com/ |

RE: Frontlines: Fuel of War
*agree*
I find from my demo, which can sub for the Real in basic premise, that the gameplay is different, in Cod4, I want a perfect gun, so that I can fight, in Frontlines, you could play for a LONG time, and never use your gun, Drones, vehicles, and such make guns a partial thing. I did not like that you cannot swap out your weapons, I had a sniper, and a pistol, I wanted to swap my pistol out for a rifle from a guy I killed, no can do
