Exercise
Yes, exercise. The thing all gamers dread like the plague.

What do you people do to stay reasonably fit, if anything.

I'm sure you all know I'm not one of those guys who sits around talking about pro-wresting and UFC, but I bought some new 10, 15, and 20 pound weights recently, and they've been doing me an alright job. Normally I lift closer to 20 (not much at all, but if you've seen my arms, you'll understand why) but 10 and 15 and better for low-repetition lifting (which is arguably better than spending 2 minutes on high-repetition lifting with the 20's) whenever I'm feeling lazy.

But that's me. A lot of people go to gyms and such, but around here the only gym within 10 miles is a womens fitness club. Maybe Side_Scroll'R could fit in there, but I sure can't (just kidding lol).

RE: Exercise
I definitely hate the 'start' of exercising, where your body has to adapt to it [aches and pains].

I lift 15 pound weights, usually 5 lifts an arm, then switch, stop whenever I feel tired. xD

I jog, but I don't know how long it is. I usually stop just after I turn the corner on my street. [No, I don't go to the park, lol.]

And recently one of my girlfriends taught me some like, stomach exercises. You can never really explain it all in text, but MAN, THOSE HURT.

Anyway, stretch before and after you exercise.
It's also recommended that you just stretch everyday, regardless if you exercise or not.

Oh yeah and another tip: The most effective workouts are ones that keep changing, so that your body doesn't adapt to a single workout.

RE: Exercise
I do multiple things... Depending on the weather and what I feel like depends on what I do.. But nothing includes stuff like weights (as I don't wanna go buy any), I go out and lift something around the farm for something like that.

Anyhow, here's a couple things:

I do a variation of "The Beep Test", where I have a tape playing with "shuttles" that get quicker as they go.. Anyhow, I run for the first shuttle, drop do push ups for the next shuttle, run back to where I started for the next shuttle, do sit ups for that shuttle, etc, etc. Basically it's running back and forth and doing some sort of simple exercise for 5-10 seconds at each side, doing push-ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, etc, etc.

There's also the basic stuff I do around the farm, like fencing (not the sword things), carrying feed bags (converts to 88-ish pounds), etc. Carrying goats (up to 150-ish pounds), etc. I also run down and back from the chook shed every afternoon (100 meters each way).

But once a week after school, I do go to the gym, where I use all the equipment, treadmills, benchpress, etc.. Must admit, I'm not too fond of the benchpress... I can never manage a good balance with it...

Also, I may just do some plain old running/jogging, or if it's rainy, I'll just do a whole lot of pushups & other upper muscle exercises... Never been fond of abdominal work outs...

RE: Exercise
I do everything I did in boot camp, except run two miles. My ankle doesn't permit me to do that anymore. :(

RE: Exercise
I walk ... A LOT ...

I use to walk up to 20+ miles a day, but then I got a car, I'm still at around 10 miles a day though with all the back and forth at work and what not ...

RE: Exercise
Well, most of my exercise comes from work around the house. Groundskeeping, house cleaning, and any improvements on the home. Which I am doing right now. But besides that, when I do my exercise, I lift 25 lbs weights for each arm, 30 bicep reps together at the same time. (Makes you work harder and hold your balance) Then I do 30 push ups, stop and do 25 bicep curls again, stop and do another 30 push ups. (Really sweating now) After that, I do shoulder lifts 3/4 up from my arms being parallel to my sides, hold for a second and do that 30 times. All in all, I try to do 100 reps for my arms. Sometimes I do sit ups, but I get a good work out balancing as I work the upper body.

RE: Exercise
hmm..well I walk the dog for about 25 mins, 3 times a day. Then i'm at work, where i do a lot of walking up and down stairs carry some heavy crates, So i'm not really that fit, but I wouldn't say i'm really unfit, I guess smoking doesn't help, but I'm not bothered since i'm not a fat bastard, so that's cool.
