Ever wanted to know why there are 3 versions of ET (2.55, 2.60, and 2.60b)? And why is it that you cannot play on the older versions if you update? Well, with the help of my friend, dP:[SDF]Sungod, and his guide to working every version, we will answer those questions!

Q: Why are there 3 versions of ET?
A: Simple. The game was updated a few times in a short time span. 2.55 is the basic install (used to be v1.0 for all the old skool players from years ago).
2.60 was the first update to the 2.55 install.
2.60b was the binaries added into the folder of installation. It was the buffer overflow fix.

Q: Why can't I play on other servers if I update?
A:Once you install 2.60, it removes the original files, and replaces them. The same goes for 2.60b. The 2.55 version cannot read those files, so it will kick you saying "Game/Server Protocol Mismatch Error", and will ask you to update, and make sure you have the same version of the game that the server has.

Q: So if I update, that means I can't play on my favorite 2.55 servers since I have 2.60 or 2.60b?
A: No. You can definately do so... but it will require some copying and moving of folders... or patch selectors. Personally, I don't touch those. Too annoying to use, and you have to make a list of servers so that you can join those. The method I will introduce is much easier.

Well, to help with the task of folder copying and moving, I will post the process now!

Find etkey and save to the desktop

• 2.55 Patch (Full Game)
  This is obviously the full version. This is the first step in the 3 steps.
  Download: http://www.fileshack.com/browse.x?cat=1773
  Install that, It will save in C:\Program files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory.
• 2.60 Patch
  
  Download: http://www.fileshack.com/browse.x?cat=1774
  Get the regular 2.60, this is the second installation file.
  
  Go to C:\Program Files\ Find Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory. Right-click on it, and click on copy. Paste onto the desktop. Rename the desktop folder to ET255.
  
  Now install the 2.60 patch.
  
  Drag ET255 to C:\Program Files\
  
  Open ET255 and right-click on ET.exe, create a shortcut, rename it to 2.55 and drag the shortcut to your desktop.
• 2.60b Patch (Buffer Overflow fix)
  Download: http://www.fileshack.com/browse.x?cat=1774
  Download 2.60b binaries.
  
  Navigate to C:\program files\
  Find Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory (THIS IS THE 2.60 VERSION)
  Copy Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory to desktop.
  Rename the desktop folder to ET260
  
  Go back to the C:\Program Files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory
  open the folder, and find ET.exe and ETDED.exe (Some people may not have ETDED.exe) Delete both files.
  
  open the Zip file containing the 2.60b patch, and place the ET.exe and ETDED.exe into C:\program files\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory.
  
  Go back to the desktop, drag ET260 into Program Files, and create a shortcut to ET.exe, name this one 2.60 and drag the shortcut to the desktop.
  
  Navigate back to the 2.60b folder - Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory rename it to ET260b, create a shortcut on ET.exe, rename the shortcut to 2.60b and drag to desktop.
  
  
  If you saved your etkey, copy into etmain on all 3 folders.
