yet its a program hence you still run it as an exe the addon is just to grab the links you can still copy and paste them in

downthemall is just an addon like i said so no actually speed boosts

while DAP is a PROGRAM the addon just sends the download link to it
then it runs seperate
it still works you jsut have to copy/paste the links

lets see you completly exit firefox while downloading with downthemall and see if your downloads continue

DAP you can

DownThemAll is all you can desire from a download manager: it features an advanced accelerator that increases speed up to 400% and it allows you to pause and resume downloads at any time.

---

Basically what you're saying is that whenever you download something, you NEED or WANT to close Firefox down. I don't.

I want and need to do other things while I am downloading.

This lines gotten me confused... He never said that you NEED or WANT to close firefox when downloading something.. He's saying that IF you close firefox whilst downloading with DownThemAll, it cancels the download.. And please don't argue with me, I use downthemall all the time, and it DOES cancel the download. And you CAN pause and resume the download any time you want, just as long as you keep firefox running..

As for up to 400% speed increase, it doesn't.. I've tried multiple times with later versions of DownThemAll, and all of them download at the same speed as my regular download.. However, one of the earlier versions (0.9.9.10), DOES download a helluva lot faster.. I once downloaded something at 1.5Mb/s.. Finished a 1Gb download in a couple of minutes..

Whatever at your don't argue with me. That's too bad. I am gonna argue with you.

DownThemAll should not put that piece of information there if it's false, otherwise, Firefox would have already removed the add-on or remove that information.

RE: DAP
This argument needs to end.

1: Keep it a an ON TOPIC DISCUSSION and the thread will live.

2: Keep it going down the path its going and it will be locked after you are all warned to watch yourselves.

I suggest option number one. We do not need this on our forum.

Again, The original question was asking whether or not it was useful.
A yes or no with a reason to explain your answer would be best suited as a response.

If you have any further arguments about this, take them to private.

Thank you.

RE: DAP
That 400% thing might be BS, as for FireFox not doing anything about that claim I believe they have a disclaimer about inaccuracies. They usually only take action when the add-on is malicious..

As for performance, I haven't used that FF add-on but have used DAP in the past, primarily one of the early versions and did notice somewhat of an improvement in speed. But that was a while back so can't comment on the current version. The main advantage IMO is being able to resume the download, provided that the site you're downloading from allows download managers though as not all do.
