The Bouncer - I know it was short, flawed and not that good, but for the first game I played it was such a graphical upgrade from the PS1 that it's always one I remember.
Katamari Damacy - One of the few PS2 games I am keeping my system for. It was such an original idea and a budget title.
God of War - It didn't come until the end of the life cycle, but this game really displayed the graphical power the system possessed. At about 10 hours of gameplay, it was shorter then some would like but a lot of fun to play.
The Madden series - The last Madden games that were great were on the last generations' systems. I play the first few on PS2 and the last few on Xbox, but they were all good.
Grand Theft Autos (San Andreas in particular) - The transition to 3D made the open-world genre explode. GTA has always been at the fore front of this movement.
Guitar Hero - Before Harmonix left and before Activision ground this IP into cannon fodder, this was a really good, well executed game. I can't wait for this year's version Guitar Hero: The Bee Gees!!!

Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, Sly Cooper 2 & 3 (I'd say 1, but the lack of a health meter is unnecessarily frustrating sometimes), Shadow of the Colossus, FF7-Dirge of Cerberus, Star Wars Battlefront (and I liked 2, but... 1 is just more accessible). I could go on, but yeah, those stand out.

    (200th post. :p)

Vice City, was for me the best 3D GTA and PS2 game ever. THE best GTA was, however, 2. Top down view's so much superior.

I am a fan of all the Dynasty Warriors games on the PS2, mostly DW4. I haven't played PS2 in a while though, so I am probably missing some other games there were really good too.

@ Xuchilbara, have you ever played Siren: Blood Curse on the PS3?

I saw it on sale for a pretty good price a while back but didn't own a PS3 at the time so I passed on it...Never played Siren on the PS2 though so not sure what to expect.

Yes I have Siren: Blood Curse.

I Love the game! I thought it was amazing, however It's definitely not for everyone. I loved how it's in episodic format and recaps everything from previous chapters similar to Alan Wake. The Graphics were awesome and the soundtrack is amazing! I had to go out and buy it.

The game suffers from some awkward controls especially when trying to sight jack into an enemies vision and it'll lag sometimes when you're moving with sight jack on. Enemies are practically invincible and can never be killed only knocked out and come back after a few minutes. There is a lot of trial and error involved especially during the escort segments.

The other downside is there's a lot of back tracking. The game plays out over a couple of days with multiple characters and often you'll go back to an area you've previously done with another character.

I still thought it was an awesome game though. But you need a lot of patience for it.

Yeah that game also had the best cheat codes from all the GTA titles IMO.

    Jet pack + <weapon of choice> = FUN

The ghetto co-op was pretty good as well and the radio stations were enjoyable for the most part although it failed to surpass the greatness of Vice City's VCPR.
