Sony recently announced its official release date for the PS Vita and it's 2/22/2012.

Check out the full details here.

I'm pretty sure fighting and action games will work flawlessly but I haven't been really impressed with the recent CoD handheld releases although I did like Treyarch's attempt at bringing the zombie mode to the DS.

Shortly after my birthday,,,, perfect! I can't wait to see what kind of awesome Side scrolling awesomeness and RPG's it "might" have! It's been a while since I played something like Crisis Core or Castlevania on a handheld.

The mall near me (in VA) has a station set up in the middle of the mall for people to demo the Vita. I had a chance to play a level of Uncharted, and it was AWESOME. I was really blown away by the graphics, the controls were pretty responsive and even the touchscreen wasn't gimmicky.

Has anyone else had a chance to check it out?

Not yet but I'll keep an eye out for any promo location stations.

Can't seem to find any official word on these tours though as it seems to be announced for Japan but not for North America...

In case anyone is in my area, it's at the Potomac Mills Mall in Woodbridge, VA. I guess it's close to DC as well.

Another forum says there's a set up in San Fran, too.

As far as I know, the mall locations will stay the same. However, there will be more Social Clubs like the one in SF popping up in cities around the country. Keep checking the official vita page for info.

Full disclosure: I work for a company affiliated with Sony and these events.

I lol'd at the fact that there's a Vita Coconut Water company promoted as part of those clubs.

Will keep an eye out for those nationwide clubs as well.

The current Mall experience locations will be closing December 30th. So, you have 14 days to demo a vita before they could be gone in your area.

One more time, the malls are:

    Third Street Promenade
    1228 3rd St.
    Santa Monica, CA 90401

    Gurnee Mills Mall
    6170 W. Grand Ave.
    Gurnee, IL 60031

    Grapevine Mills Mall
    3000 Grapevine Mills Pkwy.
    Grapevine, TX 76051

    Potomac Mills Mall
    2700 Potomac Mills Cir.
    Woodbridge, VA 22192

    Discovery Mills Mall
    5900 Sugarloaf Pkwy.
    Lawrenceville, GA 90043

Depends on where you live, they'll be more Social Clubs popping up in mid-January.
