Over the course of my time using Valve's Steam service I've come across and bought many of the games that you'd expect someone with Steam to, games like Super Meat Boy, FTL: Faster Than Light, Rouge Legacy, BattleBlock Theater ect.

But I've also found a surprisingly large amount of hidden gems that no one ever talks about, Super Panda Adventures, Nimble Quest, MURI and Instant Dungeon! to name a few.

So I was thinking that there must be plenty more games that I still haven't seen yet that are buried in Steam's store. I was wondering how to solve this problem than it hit me, what better place to show these games love than by sharing them?

If you have any Steam games with less than 1,500 reviews that are good than please share them here.

Iron Grip: Warlord is not the best genre hybrid but it is a good attempt if you don't mind dated visuals. It's a tower defense/FPS mix.

Julia, among the stars is pretty good I guess. Its a point and click puzzle game.

Got some really nice visuals. (got around 300 reviews)

edit: couldn't post any links, said it had reached a limit.

Castle Crashers has a bit more than 500 reviews. :p

One series that I adore that's on Steam is the Geneforge series. You can get all 5 games for 20 bucks. Which is a small amount of money for the hours of gameplay you can get.

I just noticed this, if you combine all of the reviews from all 5 games you only get a total of 216 reviews... This saddens me.

That has a lot more than 500 reviews :p

Going to highlight that part in the OP.

But nonetheless, a good game. If you see it on sale, definitely worth it.

Dungeon Warfare is a game that actually has a fairly large online demo on Armor Games. Here's the link if your interested.

    armorgames.com/play/17683/dungeon-warfare

It's a tower defense game that, from what I've seen so far, doesn't break the mold but instead perfects what's already available and offers a unique aesthetic which really grabs my eye in its take on typical fantasy elements. It's $10 on Steam so I would recommend the demo before you think about buying it, but I do highly recommend it if you like tower defense games even slightly.

Edit: This game is also still in development in Steam Early Access.

Lovely Planet is a hybrid First person shooting/Platforming/Speed running game from tinyBuild Games that has a strikingly similar aesthetic style to Katamari Damacy, but that's pretty much where the similarities end between the two. In Lovely Planet, the goal is to get through each level as quickly as you can while killing every enemy within said level without getting hit yourself then, proceeding to the end goal as quickly as possible. The style of the game makes it very distinct, and it can be played as seriously or as loosely as you want.

At a price of $6, I would recommend it to anyone who likes First person shooters that are a little off the beaten path.

Here's the trailer for the game:

'Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved' is maybe the best arcade game you'll ever play which is out right now. once you get into 'the zone' this is pure gaming crack

    also try:

    Drunken Robot Pornography

Turok just re-relased. Totally worth it.
Heavy Bullets is a fun little twist on the FPS genre. Nerve wrecking and friggin' hard!
    Roundabout is funny fun.

Rock Boshers DX: Directors Cut, other than having a title which screams quality entertainment, is about as old school as old school as games get by harkening back to well before I was even born, to the realm of pc and NES games from the early 80's.

With this being said, the game brings a very modern feeling type of mind set together with an old style aesthetic in what I would consider one of the best throw backs to this era of games. For example. The game is constantly and consistently difficult and gets much harder as it continues, however it also in a modern twist gives you infinite lives to try a level as many times as you need to and a level select screen to allow you to continue whenever you feel like trying to beat an area you were stuck on again.

The game is short however, with each level being one screen large and the game only having 24 levels total. And although the game does have an arcade with mini-games to play, none of them held my attention for terribly long so the game can be extremely short if you are good at twin-stick shooter games. But I would definitely recommend the game at 7$ if you like short but challenging games or want a throwback that goes back to the days when a couple of pixels looked just like an anatomically correct human being.
