The title says it all. I really like this community, but in all honesty, it feels like a ghost town! No offense to GaMeR, you've done a great job developing the forum and integrating games and a currency system, but it just feels like the only members who actually take part in the forums and stick around for at least a month are GaMeR himself, Mods/Veterans, myself, and around 4-5 others. I'm not saying I'm leaving, because by no means would I ever, I'm just trying to see how we could possibly get more members to become active within the forum, and start to see more variety in threads than the same old 5-10 people who always respond. Any suggestions? I suppose we could try to get our fellow gamer friends to join and tell their friends about it, but we need to get our name out there so we can start to see more and more members and get to know them better, not just have them post once, be uninterested and leave. And, maybe, just maybe, we can have this statistic almost every day: So leave your suggestions and feedback, maybe it's only me who feels this way, I'm not sure.
I agree that activity could definitely be better. Right now I'm working on finalizing the website for our offline event, PwnEm Con, and will get back to working on promoting the site more. However, aside from referring friends, you can also help boost traffic by promoting (without spamming of course) any articles of interest that you see on the blog on other forums you frequent. This way more people are exposed to the site and if they like it, they can join us on the forums.
Yeah, I'll definitely work on spreading the blog posts on other forums I'm a part of. But ooh, what's PwnEm Con?:lol:
Here's the link: http://www.pwnemcon.com/ Right now the info has not yet been updated but we are doing a 2014 event, taking place on August 2nd in West New York, NJ. By tomorrow it should have ticketing info and all the good stuff.
I'm starting to promote this site more, and more progressively on twitter and skype and such without being one of the annoying spamming people... But i'm doing my best to help. Pwnem is going to be the next TTG
What's up with the reputation system? I've always noticed there's a "Reputation:" title next to peoples names, but everyone is at 0. While Veteran status is enough incentive to be active, I think a simple reputation system (Up Votes, Down Votes) could urge users to stay and contribute to the forum instead of having them leave right away.
If I'm not mistaken, The rep system was implemented with only negative rep available, to help users control the amount of spam. (I dont remember if it was all users, or just Veteran)
What Xone said, it's used as a way to temporarily block a user's posts but only Veterans can do it. So if someone has negative rep, all their posts will be blocked until a staff member looks into it. This was done to prevent organized spam attacks in the event that an official staff member is not online at the time. This way if someone posts something malicious, no one will see it if a Veteran takes action. I'll add that to the guide as apparently it's not mentioned there, thanks for the reminder.
Reference conventions and stuff mate, if there's ever any stuff in the UK you need a rep for I'd be happy to do it. I know there's, a few conventions coming up later in the summer/autumn time. I'd even do stuff for the YouTube channel.
I'm in Austin and have been a member here for 7 (mostly stable) years. I am also unable to make it.. I tried to convince gamer to move down here so we'd have a chance.. Hah.. Maybe next year?
That's still not enough for me to come join in. Mind you, if i did attend Pwnemcon, I'd need a place to crash too.
I purpose a chat box? That way members can have more direct convos actively partisipate and stick around longer? I like this place though 6^^
