I casually PC game on my Asus laptop, 2nd Gen i7 with 8gb DDR3 Ram. I like playing TF2 but I feel my laptop getting considerably hot after playing for a short time. I'm afraid to play for too long because I'm afraid I'm going to overheat my computer.

I plan on rigging my PS3 controller to my laptop and mapping the controls. Then I'll run HDMI to my TV. If I do this, I'd buy a cooling fan. It'd cost me nextremely to nothing with my discount from Best Buy but I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them. Versus going through trial and error, do they actually help vent the laptop or does it depend on the cooling pad itself.

Cant you just lift the laptop off the ground a bit so air can properly flow?
