I'm not much of a PC gamer but recently got hold of an Alienware laptop that belongs to a cousin of mine who wanted me to sell it for them...long story short, I got an awesome gaming laptop for the time being.

But while the mouse and keyboard setup works well for the most part, in some games I would definitely feel more comfortable with a controller and we actually had a brief discussion about this and he told me that basically the Xbox controllers are considered the best option right now which to me is lame as you would think that Alienware or another big company who's really into the PC gaming scene would have developed something better by now.

Is there something coming up that I don't know about or is it that the Xbox controller is good enough?

have you seen the new Steam controller? seems quite nice

i personally use a wired 360 controller, for the games i play it can't be beat, a mouse and keyboard just doesn't work for twin-stick shooters

Yeah that Steam controller does look nice, reasonably priced too.

The alleged battery life is very appealing as well:

I really like the idea of the Steam controller. And the best part about it, barring the fact that it most likely won't get discounted anytime soon (or ever) is that you can use your Steam Community money to buy it. So if you're like me and you have some rare TF2 items and a lot of trading cards, you can list them for sale and then use that money to pre-order the controller. That's what I did. Hoping it's as good as it sounds!

I tried the Steam controller for a little while recently and it felt a bit weird. Going to see if I can borrow it from that person as they did mention that it took them a few hours to get used to it.
