They bombed a little IMO with Halo 3. I think H2 was better.

Nintendo didn't do well with the Gamecube, but that is the only major tv console they bombed on. All the others before that outsold everyone.

Well in terms of sales, Halo 3 did well. But the game itself wasn't that good IMO. I expected it to be a lot better..

Anyway, it would be good if Sega came back into the industry and battled it out in the next "next gen war." I'd like to see what they can come up with.

Yes, we could use Sega to launch our Retro platform. We can then avoid doing anymore work but updating the games, sit back, and watch the royalties fly in.

Sega Dreamcast 2.

That is all.

Yeah. I never even played the first Dreamcast, but I could tell it was a great console.

Speaking of the DreamCast, I encountered this old article which compares the DreamCast to the 360:

The Wii is doing phenomenal in sales. I doubt it is going to slow down, and it seems they are beefing up production, because we have received more shipments than usual at my job. Also, the 360 is still doing well, but mainly in the US. It is not doing as well as the PS3 in regards to Japan and Europe. So it looks like it could go in any direction. All I'm saying is don't count out the PS3. It certainly is gaining momentum especially after the format war. Also, releases like MGS4, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet, PS Home, and GTA IV are more than likely going to move PS3 sales. But right now, all the consoles are doing well, so it's anyone's guess.

Well, as long as the Wii price is still below the others, it will continue to gain more sales than before. Plus I am sure there are still millions of children waiting to get a Wii for the holidays.
In all honesty, the two major consoles this time are the Wii and 360. You remember the last war was all Sony and Xbox, and Gamecube wasn't mentioned, but Sony finally pushed a little too far and righteously screwed themselves early on. It would take them 2 years to catch up to Nintendo, if Nintendo didn't sell one more console during that time. A lot of people are a one console purchase. Once they have bought the one they like and it satisfies, they aren't concerned about buying another one.

I do believe that, that Nintendo earned the most cash(or at least a nice profit) out of that genre of console wars, not due to how much console they shipped but how much money they saved, Sony and Microsoft were Predicted a lost on each of there units sold. Nintendo wasn't.
