Yeah or at least some sort of handheld gaming device such as a PSP/DS.

I know there are a quite a few women that actually own a 360. My sister is a gamer, so are some of my female family members.

The only reason why it's 40% women is because of the casual appeal of the Wii and DS, I'd say that out of the 40% of those women that "play video games", only about..15%(ish) are real gamers, and if you look back at the old reports, before DS and Wii came out you'll see that women gamers wouldn't be at 40%.

here's the worrying thing though, the women out of that 40% group that aren't real gamers, won't play games such as halo or Metroid, and since right now the market is flooded with FPS, these women have nothing to play, until they see the Wii selection of games, I'd say alot of women out of that 40% group would skip the underrated hardcore games because;

A) They are so underrated, they don't get any mention
B) they look at the games and see that No More heroes involves chopping pieces up, and aren't intressted.
C) They won't really have a sense of knowledge in knowing the difference in whats an A+ game and an D- game.

so then they go buy Wii play, or Carnival games or some other crap budget game aimed at people who don't dwell into gaming news and knows what's good and what's not, eventually more and more casual games are going to be release, which means the wii and DS won't have much room for the hardcore gamer, and then other company's will see the money making plan and start copying the appeal of Mii's and casual easy interface for these new breed of gamers...OH wait..that's already happening. aww crap.

Most certainly. Women tend to be faster on the controls when they get hardcore.

Most of the chicks I know who game are pretty hardcore ...

Yes the "cutsie" games do have an appeal to some of us but that doesn't mean that I can't totally rock your socks off in some Halo, or get into all the "boy games".

So not only can I rock you in the games that are sexually aimed for the male gender, I can also whoop your ass in some dance dance ... or hello kitties island adventure ..... while cooking dinner and talking on the phone to my BFF!

yeah its about time this happened... in fact there were alot of female gamers at quakecon, pretty hardcore ones too... makes me feel all fuzzy inside ^_^
