Okay, first of all:
Quote:and also he was aiming for her hand so she wouldn't lose her hand.
This makes no sense...

And anyway, are you making reference for the "enemy" using those guns to scare off reporters, or the Georgians? Because, as far as I'm aware, Georgians wouldn't actually shoot at their own people...

I meant that this type of gun will make only this minor damage. If it was a real sniper (normal size bullet) there is a big chance that she could have lost her hand.

So, with this gun there is not such a possibility, that's why they use it, to scare people, and yes, they don't want reporters or anyone so they scare them with this kind of weapons.

Care to elaborate on why there'd be an airgun in the middle of a warzone in a near-3rd world area and why someone would be shooting reporters with it?

It may be for exactly that reason, to make the reporters fall back. These kind of snipers cannot kill you that easy and also he was aiming for her hand so she wouldn't lose her hand.

So, I am saying that they used this kind of gun to make people scared not dead because they don't want reporters and stuff like that in that area.

That isn't a known military tactic though, nor a very wise one. Not to mention that after about maybe 10 meters, on even the most powerful airgun, the pellet/BB will start to drop dramatically, so there's no way he could have fired that from far off and hit her.

I'm going with it being a ricocheting bullet/piece of shrapnel. Neither the Georgian Military nor the Russian Military are equipped with airguns.

If they didn't want reporters there all they have to do is drive up in a tank and tell the reporters to leave or they will be cuffed and escorted away.

Go shoot yourself in the arm with a "minor weapon" and post pics. I'm assuming when she was said "minor weapon" she meant pistol caliber, in which case it would still do damage, if not MORE than rifle caliber rounds (bigger overall diameter, so even though it doesn't get the chance to tumble, it still leaves a bigger overall initial hole, 9mm VS 5.45mm).

It was a ricochet or piece of shrapnel.
